Some people may wonder of the management practices described in this article about Amazon are legal. Although many would debate whether they are good management practices, there is nothing illegal about most of what is described in the article. After all, when one does not have am employment contract, one’s employment is at the will of the employer and a person can be fired for any reason or no reason.
But there are exceptions in New Jersey law and elsewhere which prevent employers from discriminating against people because of their sex, age, religion, disability, or because the person is considered a whistleblower. It is possible that some of the instances described in the article might be considered illegal discrimination based on sex or having a disability if there is enough proof.
